What to see at Crazy Horse Memorial
The mountain carving honors the Lakota leader Crazy Horse. Sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski began work in 1948 at the invitation of Lakota elders, and the finished face was dedicated in 1998. The memorial is a nonprofit and the work continues today. Plan time for the visitor complex, the Indian Museum of North America, and the Native American Educational and Cultural Center. In summer, a night laser light show is projected onto the mountain.
