An RV park built around the Black Hills road trip
If you're searching for an RV park near Deadwood SD, you're probably planning more than a single night in town. Custer Crossing Family Campground sits at 22036 Hwy 385, about 15 miles (roughly 25 minutes) south of Deadwood, on the main north-south route through the Hills. From here, the big stops are all realistic day trips, so you can set up once and leave the rig parked.
We have about 20 full-hookup RV sites. Pull in, connect, and spend your time exploring instead of hunting for the next dump station.

Iron Mountain Road and the Needles Highway in Custer State Park have tight tunnels and switchbacks that aren't a good fit for big RVs, so drive them in a car.
Driving Hwy 385 in an RV
Hwy 385 is a scenic, two-lane mountain highway with curves and grades. Plenty of RVs drive it every summer, but give yourself time, use pullouts so faster traffic can pass, and plan to arrive in daylight if you can. Check the South Dakota DOT for road work before you leave. The Forest Service has posted Hwy 385 construction alerts for the area.
Coming from the interstate? Sturgis (I-90) is about 40 minutes from camp, and Rapid City is about 45 minutes.
