Why tent campers like it here

Black Hills tent camping tips
- Pack for cold nights. Even in summer, nights in the Hills can be cool. In April, May, and October, nights can drop below freezing.
- Expect afternoon storms. Summer thunderstorms build fast. Stake out your tent and rainfly well.
- Check fire restrictions. Black Hills fire danger changes during the season. Follow current restrictions and camp rules.
- Plan around August. The Sturgis Rally (August 6 to 15, 2027) brings motorcycles to every road in the Hills. See Sturgis Rally camping.
- Know the season. We are open April 15 to November 1.
